About Us
Founded by a New York State (NYS) certified special education teacher, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), and Certified Autism Specialist (CAS), Big Steps Foundation is a privately operated organization devoted to delivering high-impact behavioral support to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and various developmental challenges. Big Steps Foundation specializes in the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), offering home-based ABA services as well as school-based special education support.
Our programs support individuals from infancy through young adulthood who are navigating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental differences. We specialize in working with those who present with notable difficulties in areas such as thinking and learning, communication and language, emotional and social interaction, motor development, and everyday living skills.
At Big Steps Foundation, we utilize a variety of ABA-based instructional strategies such as discrete-trial teaching, generalized imitation training, echoic and vocal mand training, discrimination/multiple exemplar training, incidental teaching, and natural environment teaching. Individualized motivational systems—such as visual choice boards, token economies, and photographic or written activity schedules—are integrated across learning environments including the home, school, and community settings.
We also place a strong emphasis on empowering families. Through Behavioral Skills Training (BST)—a research-supported model consisting of instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback—we teach parents and caregivers how to apply ABA methods and behavior modification techniques within their daily routines. Our goal is to facilitate meaningful and lasting behavioral change across key areas of development.
